– The school computer network holds a large amount of sensitive information, such as records of attendance and other information aimed for teachers, students, caregivers and other authorized users. It is therefore very important that we can offer a login system that guarantees the right user access to the right information, says Fredrik Sjölin, Head of development at Karlskrona municipality.
The new login solution from Nexus, PortWise Access Manager, ensures that students, caregivers, and other authorized users in the municipality have access to the right information. With the new Nexus solution, users identify themselves using eID, which they obtain from their internet bank or Telia. Login with eID provides a superior level of secure login in comparison to previous solutions.
– We used login solutions based on passwords in the past. But, as schools are handling more and more sensitive information on their networks, it has become necessary to offer a more advanced solution where the identity of students and caregivers can be verified, says Fredrik Sjölin.
–All organizations, public as well as private, handle more and more information via the web. This leads to a growing amount of sensitive information being available via the internet and from that aspect it is important that, e.g., the school networks ensure that the right person gets access to the right information, says Per Hägerö, CTO Nexus.
Karlskrona municipality opted for eID as the login method, among the several alternatives that PortWise Access Manager has available. In the future, Karlskrona will be able to offer other login alternatives depending on need, e.g., one-time passwords that are sent via SMS. The implementation of PortWise Access Manager also makes it possible for the municipality to implement professional eIDs, a variety of eID that automatically provides employees with the right level of access independent of where they are.
